As a boy, on a northeast Kansas farm, every possible minute was spent wandering the hills alongside the Missouri River. The love I have for the outdoors and hunting I owe to my father who saw enough in me, at age seven, to hand me an old Iver Johnsons 410. When television came along shows about Davy Crocket, Daniel Boone, Lewis and Clark and the American Indian all became a powerful influence on what I wanted to be. I fell in love with the bow but as a bow maker fell short of even being considered crude.The attraction, however, remains and fortunately today I need not make my own.
Favorite Fargason Outdoor Product
The Fargason Outdoors product that I'm most excited about is the Scentite Tent Chair Blind Magnum. The Magnum Tent Chair Blind was designed specifically to accommodate the bow hunter and has become a tool that can be used for comfort, concealment as well as protection from the elements. No serious bow hunter would attempt using a new sight, arrow rest or other piece of equipment without practice and the same should apply for a Magnum Tent Chair Blind.
Launch a few arrows from it before heading to the woods and you'll gain a confidence in this product, as I have, to successfully take deer, turkey and wild hogs. If you're going to be at the Shot Show, ATA, Harrisburg Show, etc. come by our booth and I, or any of the guys, would love to pass on and accept any tricks learned while using the Magnum Tent Chair Blind.
Favorite Outdoor Story
In the spring of 2001, on the way to Lake Perry, a friend and I passed through the little Kansas town of Oskaloosa. We stopped at a small cafe where I saw someone I thought I recognized. He was in full camo, obviously a turkey hunter but I could not place him. On one of his trips back from the buffet table, I asked if he'd had any luck. He said "No luck at all. I've been up here four days from Alabama and haven't gotten a turkey within a hundred yards of me!" Well, I knew then that I didn't know him but felt bad that he'd come all the way to Kansas for nothing. I told him, "If you want to meet back here about 4:30 PM, I'm pretty sure I can put you onto a turkey around my place." Then he introduced himself !! I'd been talking with Keith Davis, co-host of the outdoor television show, Gone Huntin' with Keith & Tony. We called in four birds that evening then sat up half the night going through footage, that I had taken of friends, family and myself hunting. I don't know whether he figured I was a cameraman or that he could make one of me but, at any rate, a dream came true when he asked if I'd film for them.
I was asked to film a hunt here in Kansas and it was my introduction to the incredible advantage you gain when hunting from a Scentite Deluxe Blind. Until then I always played the wind, used every scent control product available, wore two complete suits of scent control clothing and still got busted. Today, I can take my grandkids with me and not one of them own a speck of scent control anything. I like selling something that I believe in, whether it Scentite Deluxe Blind or a Magnum Tent Chair Blind, and for that reason was thrilled when asked to join the Fargason Team.
